Welcome to the City of Cambridge Website MEMO FROM THE MAYOR By Cambridge Mayor Nan Rhodes This month’s City Council meeting was a short one as the council has temporarily  winnowed the agenda items down to two main working issues; continuing our work  on straightening out zoning issues and putting together a sign ordinance.  Both are  still in the development process and will need several more months before we  reach the time to introduce official ordinances.     Also our draft Wastewater Facility Master Plan has now been submitted to the  Department of Environmental Quality and we are waiting for the comment period to  end which should be in about a month.    I’m sure everyone has noticed the new format for our water and sewer bills. Our  new computer software is working out great and will allow more information to be  displayed on everyone’s bill. There was initially some confusion when the bills first  went out because they displayed two separate amounts; the current amount due  and also the total amount including late charge that would be due if paid after the  due date. This late charge total has been removed to avoid any further confusion.   We are also looking into getting perforated paper to make it easier to remove and  return the top part of the bill with payment instead of having to cut it off as it is now.    Spring flowering bulbs are just starting to sprout around town and I’ve noticed that  some ‘Lily of the Valley’ is even blooming. This weekend, before the rain started, the  weather was so nice that I think I was not alone in feeling the urge to get out and  start some yard work. I trimmed some low branches off of some trees and we  burned weeds along fence lines.  I managed to get the porches cleaned and ready  to enjoy when the rain stops but the good thing is this rain should really get things  greening up.  Even though this past winter was an unusually warm one I’m still  really looking forward to spring.      I would like to remind everyone that the usual crop of potholes that appear every  spring will be repaired but we cannot do it until the weather is warm enough to work  hot asphalt.  The city has to wait for the lower country hot mix plants to start  operating.  If you do know of a particularly large, troublesome pothole let us know  and we can temporarily fill it in with gravel until consistent warmer temperatures  arrive and let us repair it.        Mayor Nanette Rhodes 208-257-3230 cambridgemayor@ctcweb.net City Clerk/Treasurer Sandra McKee 208-257-3318 cityofcambridge@ctcweb.net Public Works Superintendent Ernie Houghton 208-257-3318 cambridge@ctcweb.net Cambridge Museum Sandra Hansen 208-257-3485 Thel Pearson 208-257-3541 City of Cambridge P.O.
