Welcome to the City of Cambridge WebsiteMEMO FROM THE MAYORBy Cambridge Mayor Nan RhodesThis month’s City Council meeting was a short one as the council has temporarilywinnowed the agenda items down to two main working issues; continuing our workon straightening out zoning issues and putting together a sign ordinance. Both arestill in the development process and will need several more months before wereach the time to introduce official ordinances. Also our draft Wastewater Facility Master Plan has now been submitted to theDepartment of Environmental Quality and we are waiting for the comment period toend which should be in about a month.I’m sure everyone has noticed the new format for our water and sewer bills. Ournew computer software is working out great and will allow more information to bedisplayed on everyone’s bill. There was initially some confusion when the bills firstwent out because they displayed two separate amounts; the current amount dueand also the total amount including late charge that would be due if paid after thedue date. This late charge total has been removed to avoid any further confusion. We are also looking into getting perforated paper to make it easier to remove andreturn the top part of the bill with payment instead of having to cut it off as it is now.Spring flowering bulbs are just starting to sprout around town and I’ve noticed thatsome ‘Lily of the Valley’ is even blooming. This weekend, before the rain started, theweather was so nice that I think I was not alone in feeling the urge to get out andstart some yard work. I trimmed some low branches off of some trees and weburned weeds along fence lines. I managed to get the porches cleaned and readyto enjoy when the rain stops but the good thing is this rain should really get thingsgreening up. Even though this past winter was an unusually warm one I’m stillreally looking forward to spring. I would like to remind everyone that the usual crop of potholes that appear everyspring will be repaired but we cannot do it until the weather is warm enough to workhot asphalt. The city has to wait for the lower country hot mix plants to startoperating. If you do know of a particularly large, troublesome pothole let us knowand we can temporarily fill it in with gravel until consistent warmer temperaturesarrive and let us repair it.MayorNanette Rhodes208-257-3230cambridgemayor@ctcweb.netCity Clerk/TreasurerSandra McKee208-257-3318cityofcambridge@ctcweb.netPublic Works SuperintendentErnie Houghton208-257-3318cambridge@ctcweb.netCambridge MuseumSandra Hansen208-257-3485Thel Pearson208-257-3541City of CambridgeP.O.
