Welcome to the City Council page!Mark Loveland joined the City Council on January 15th, 2018.I was born on 22 May, 1940 in Cedar City, Utah. I lived there until I was 11 years old. In 1951 I moved with my family to a farm in New Plymouth, Idaho and lived there until I graduated from high school. I attended Brigham Young University for 2 years and then spent 2 years on a mission for the LDS Church in New Zealand. After my mission I returned to BYU and met the love of my life, Susan Nielson. We were married for 52 years until her death in 2019.After college I spent 2 years teaching school in Burns, Oregon. In 1967 we moved to Cambridge, Idaho and have lived there since then. I have taught school since then until my retirement in the year 2000. I taught history, government, geography, and drivers education. We raised five children during those years. The first one, a son, was born in Burns, another son, then three girls born while we lived in Cambridge. All 5 children attended all their schooling in Cambridge. I still teach drivers education and give skills tests for drivers licenses.I attended Cambridge Schools 1963–1968 and then moved to Boise and graduated from Boise High School in 1973. After graduation I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and served until 1977 achieving the rank of Sergeant (E-5). I have earned degrees from Boise State University and Iowa State University and was an Electronic Service Technology instructor at Boise State University. I recently graduated from Front Site Firearms Training Institute’s Instructor Development Program in Pahrump, Nevada. I was a Certified Senior Electronic Technician for 30 years, retiring from Sears. I also worked as an engineer in McCall for 7 years. My wife, Nadine, and I own J&N,LLC , which is firearms sales, gunsmith, and handyman services . I am a member of the N.R.A., Glock Sport Shooting Foundation, Washington County Sheriff’s Posse, and I am the Adjutant for American Legion Post #9, as well as a private pilot and Certified Glock Armorer. I also hold a Federal Firearms License and an Idaho Concealed Weapons License.
