Mayor Mark Loveland

Mayor Mark Loveland

In February of 1992 Mark Loveland moved his family to Cambridge, Idaho. Prior to this move, within a period of 11 years, he had worked his way up from a box boy to management in retail grocery for Albertsons. He enjoyed working there and learned many business and leadership skills along the way.  He then found that he had a desire to venture out to become an entrepreneur.  In his search for something new he found and purchased a motel and shuttle business in Cambridge, Idaho. He, his wife and even his young sons all helped run the motel over the years. Just recently (2022) his oldest son Nick returned to Cambridge to purchase the motel and raise his family here as well.

It wasn't long after moving here that Mark was serving on the City Council in which he served nearly 14 years. During this time, he also became very involved with the school district, first as a school bus driver, then as the Transportation Supervisor for the district. He loved driving routes, field trips, FFA and sports events. He always tried to be a positive influence for the kids, knowing that he could start and end their busy days with a cheerful attitude.  He helped coach JV and Varsity football, eventually becoming the head coach. His coaching career spanned over 16 years.

After 14 years on the city council and 16 years of school involvement he then took a break from those while expanding his entrepreneur opportunities. In 2010 he purchased the local grocery store with his son Blake who wanted to return to his hometown after completing college to raise his family. Having experience in the grocery business, Mark wanted to help guide his son and daughter-in-law in their new adventure. Within the next several years they had the opportunity to purchase the local convenience store and gas station to add to their retail operations. Currently they are expanding the gas station to include an additional fuel island and RV dump to accommodate larger vehicles.

In 2021 he was once again eager to participate in city government. He was elected to the council and appointed to be the president of the council. In 2023 he was appointed to be the mayor as the current mayor needed to resign due to serious health issues. In 2024 he won the election to continue serving as mayor. He currently serves on special committees including Economic development and the Tri Valley Community & Youth Co Op which is working to improve the overall health and wellness of our community by providing access to health-related information, events and resources. He will soon be up for reelection and is looking forward to serving another term as mayor so that he can continue planning and implementing better policies and improvements for the health and safety of our citizens.
